Royals on the Farm 8/3

AAA - Omaha: O-Royals 8, Memphis 2

3B Moustakas 3-5, 2 RBI (13), RS -- .269, he deserves a September callup, but I bet KC doesn't give him one
SS Falu 3-5, 2B (11), RBI (29), K, 2 RS, E (20) -- .271
2B Maddox 2-4, 2B (14), RS -- .262
DH Miller 1-4, 2B (21), 2 RBI (44), 2 K -- .233
RF Parraz 1-4, RBI (48), K, RS -- .266
CF Dyson 1-5, 2 K, RS, E (2) -- .276
LF Lucas 0-4, BB, K -- .336

B. Hardy 4 1/3 IP, 2 UER, 3 H, BB, 5 K -- 2.09 ERA
Coleman 2 IP, 2 H, BB, 3 K -- W, 3-1, 2.66 ERA
T. Collins 1 2/3 IP, BB, K -- 0.00 ERA
Rupe IP, H, BB, K -- 2.45 ERA

* Omaha put it away with 4 late runs. Irving Falu and Mike Moustakas hit RBI singles in the 3rd but Blaine Hardy suffered from 2 errors on one play to allow the Redbirds to tie it in the bottom of the inning. Memphis gave the runs back with a 2-run error in the 5th. Jordan Parraz hit an RBI single in the 8th and Jai Miller added a 2-run double. Moustakas singled in the final run in the 9th. In the interest of time I'm skipping the opponents' highlights tonight. Omaha is 58-53. A 4-game home set with the Portland Beavers (42-69, AAA Padres) starts Wednesday as Anthony Lerew makes his return to the Omaha rotation after getting DFA'd by KC. Not mentioned in yesterday's post, Greg Holland and Bryan Bullington got called up to the KC pen.

AA - NW Arkansas: Naturals 10, Tulsa 6

CF D. Robinson 3-4, BB, 2B (20), HR (2), 3 RBI (42), 2 RS, E (9) -- .290
1B Hosmer 3-5, HR (8), RBI (17), K, RS -- .338, I'd also like to see him get a Sept. callup but he has less chance than Moustakas
C Pina 3-4, HR (7), 3 RBI (28), 2 RS -- .253
LF T. Smith 2-4, HR (7), RBI (40), RS -- .299
SS McConnell 1-3, BB, 2B (13), RBI (31), RS -- .224
DH C. Robinson 1-4, BB, K, RS -- .305
RF-LF Orlando 0-4, HBP, K, RS -- .315
3B Romak 1-4, 2B (5), RS -- .319

M. Santiago 3 1/3 IP, 6 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 4 K -- 3.56 ERA
R. Hardy 3 2/3 IP, 3 H, BB, 2 K, WP -- W, 4-1, 4.21 ERA
Keating 2 IP, H, 2 K -- 2.60 ERA

* Mario Santiago made a less than triumphant return to the mound for NWA but the Naturals cranked up the offense to get the win in the first of a big 3-game set with the Drillers. Derrick Robinson doubled and scored on a wild pitch in the 1st but Santiago gave up 5 runs in the 2nd to put NWA behind the 8-ball early. Rowdy Hardy came in to allow a sac fly in the 4th but the Nats broke out in the 4th to tie it on back-to-back solo homers by Tim Smith and Manny Pina (the 7th for both) and a 3-run blast by Robinson (his 2nd), all with 2 outs. Eric Hosmer cranked his 8th AA homer of the season to lead off the 7th, Pina hit a 2-run single, and Chris McConnell hit an RBI double to make it 10-6 Naturals. Patrick Keating pitched 2 quiet innings to end it. NWA is 23-15. Santiago and C Ryan Eigsti returned to the Nats roster while C Ben Theriot was demoted to Burlington (A) and RP Chris Chavez was released.

A-Adv. - Wilmington: Winston-Salem 8, Blue Rocks 5

C Myers 4-4, 2 2B (9), RBI (17), 2 RS -- .370, would be cool if he could help the Nats in the playoffs

LF Ortiz 0-5, K -- .296
SS Colon 0-4, HBP, K, 2 RS -- .240
DH S. Perez 0-4, K -- .249

Crow 6 1/3 IP, 8 R (6 ER), 10 H, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 HRA, 2 WP -- L, 0-1, 8.53 ERA, ouch
Lafferty 1 2/3 IP, H, K -- 3.40 ERA

* It's hard to find a way to spin Aaron Crow's Carolina League debut Tuesday in a positive light. At least he went 6 1/3 IP? He got lit up by the Dash and the Rocks offense couldn't keep the pace. Ernesto Mejia and Nick Francis hit RBI singles in the 1st and Crow gave up a leadoff homer in the 1st. Francis came back up in the 3rd and hit an RBI triple but the Dash took advantage of a Rocks error and 2 run-scoring wild pitches by Crow to take a 4-3 lead. Adam Frost doubled home the tying run in the 4th but the Dash got a solo homer in the 5th and another run in the 6th to take the lead for good. Wil Myers hit an RBI double in the 7th but the Dash answered with 2 off Crow in the 7th to finish it. The Rocks are 20-18. Will Smith starts for the Rocks Wednesday.

From there the Snappers scored 11 unanswered runs. Jake Kuebler hit his 2nd homer for the Bees in the 9th but that was all the Bees would get as they had only 6 hits and 3 errors. The Bees are 15-20. Game 2 is Wednesday. Sam Runion was put on the DL to make room for former OF now RP Brian Anderson on the roster.

* No Chukars pitcher emerged unscathed Tuesday. Geulin Beltre singled in a run in the 1st and Murray Watts continued his strong pro debut with a solo homer for his 7th of the season. Leondy Perez didn't make it out of the 1st as the Raptors scored 4 runs. Mike Mariot gave up a solo homer in the 2nd. Watts hit an RBI groundout in the 3rd but Mariot gave up back-to-back homers in the bottom of the inning to make it 7-3. Malcom Culver hit his 2nd homer of the season in the 4th but Tyler Graham allowed 2 runs in the bottom of the inning. Dale Cornstubble hit a 2-run single in the 7th and Adams added a sac fly to cut it to 12-11. Ogden scored single runs in the 7th and 8th for some insurance and the Chukars couldn't get back over the top. Idaho Falls is 1-2 on the second half. The series ends Wednesday.

L. Santiago 7 IP, UER, 5 H, 2 BB, 4 K, WP -- L, 5-2, 1.51 ERA, still looking good tho
Bavera IP, 2 ER, 3 H -- 2.63 ERA

* The Royals scattered 4 hits to help Leonel Santiago to a tough loss Tuesday. Santiago gave up an RBI double in the 3rd and that was all the Sox (as in White) would need. The Royals had 2 on with 0 out in the 5th but Alex Llanos was caught trying to steal third with Anthony Howard also getting thrown out at third in the inning. Claudio Bavera gave up 2 runs in the 8th and the Royals couldn't respond. The Royals are 20-22. They have Wednesday off.

* The Royals have lost a 4-1 lead in the 7th as the game hits the late innings. Jose Rodriguez singled in a run in the 2nd but Yordano Ventura allowed the tying run. The Royals got triples from Darian Sandford and Rodriguez in the 4th and an Eddie Prasch sac fly made it 3-1 Royals. Rodriguez scored on a balk in the 6th but Kyle Kriech was nicked for 3 runs in the 7th to see the lead vanish.
