* A 7-run rally keyed Omaha's win Monday. Anthony Lerew stranded 2 Rainiers in the 3rd and the Royals lit up the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning. Jarrod Dyson hit an RBI single, David Lough hit a 2-run triple, Ed Lucas hit an RBI single, and Jai Miller had the big blast with a 3-run homer for his 18th of the season to make it 7-0. Jordan Parraz hit a 2-run triple in the 5th and then Lough hit another RBI triple to set up a Miller RBI double that made it 11-0. Tacoma finally scratched out a run off Lerew in the 8th to break up a 5-hit shutout. That was all the Rainiers got. Omaha is 63-54. Federico Castaneda starts game 3 Tuesday.

* The Nats put it on the Travelers and Mike Montgomery had his best start yet in his comeback. Derrick Robinson singled but was caught stealing in the 1st and it cost the Naturals as Eric Hosmer hit a solo blast for his 9th at AA. Johnny Giavotella hit a 2-out, 2-run single in the 2nd to make it 3-0, and a Montgomery pickoff helped stem a budding Travs rally in the 3rd. Clint Robinson led off the Nats 3rd with his 21st homer and, after a Paulo Orlando HBP, Tim Smith slugged a 2-run homer for his 8th of the season and Jamie Romak went solo for his 5th of the season to make it 7-0. Montgomery retired the last 9 he faced and Eduardo Paulino walked the first 2 he faced in the 9th but got out of the jam to lock down the 4-hit shutout. Rowdy Hardy pitched serviceably between Montgomery and Paulino. NWA is 27-17. The Naturals have Tuesday off.

* The Rocks lost a 3-1 lead but came back in the 7th to get the win. Will Smith stranded 2 in the 1st but the Rocks did the same. The Dash struck first in the 3rd but the Rocks struck back for 3 runs on a Christian Colon RBI single, an Ernesto Mejia sac fly and Nick Francis RBI triple. The Dash got a run back in the 4th and Smith gave up 2 solo homers before getting yanked in the 6th down, 4-3. The Rocks stranded 2 in the 6th but Wil Myers doubled in the tying run and another Mejia sac fly broke the tie in the 7th. Barry Bowden walked the first 2 batters in the 9th but a big out came when the Rocks nailed Kenny Williams Jr. at third and Bowden stranded 2 for his 11th save. The Rocks are 24-20 and a game back. Bryan Paukovits starts game 2 Tuesday. Juan Rivera was put on the DL as Eddie Prasch got activated.

* The Bees actually outhit the Cougars, 10-7, but didn't come close to outscoring Kane County in another rough loss. Keaton Hayenga took his 10th loss, which started when he walked 2 and hit another batter in giving up a run without the benefit of a KC hit in the 1st. The Bees stranded 2 in the 1st and took a hit when C Jose Bonilla left the game with a knee injury in the 2nd. Kane County threatened again but didn't strike in the 4th. Deivy Batista hit a 2-out single in the 4th but Ben Theriot was thrown out trying to score on the play. A Batista error helped score a run in the 5th and Hayenga and Matt Mitchell allowed 2 runs in the 6th. The Bees got 2 on with 1 out in the 8th but again came up empty and the Cougars put it away with 4 in the 9th. The Bees are 15-26. The series wraps Tuesday.

Casper broke the deadlock with 2 in the 5th off Leondy Perez. Casper added a run off Tyler Graham in the 7th. IF stranded 2 in the 5th and left 2 in scoring position in the 8th before stranding 2 in the 9th. IF is 2-7. Game 2 is Tuesday.

* A 5-run 7th keyed a big Cards comeback as they got a walkoff win in the 9th. Yunior Figueroa hit an RBI single in the 2nd and Derek Rodriguez did the same, although Mike Liberto was thrown out at the plate to stymie the rally. Ryan Stovall went solo for his 4th homer of the season in the 3rd but the Cards finally got to Leonel Santiago for a solo homer in the 4th. Drew Robertson hit an RBI double in the 6th followed by a 2-run Rodriguez single to make it 6-1 Royals. Jake Ramsey made his Burlington debut in the 7th and it didn't go well. A run was in with the bases loaded and 2 out when DH Oscar Taveras hit a grand slam to tie the game. Ryan Wood stranded 2 in the 8th and Justin Mazur gave up a 1-out single and walkoff double...to Taveras, in the 9th. The Royals are 22-25. Game 2 is Tuesday. Crawford Simmons was named Appy League Pitcher of the Week Monday after 14 2/3 scoreless IP in the week.

* Four early runs helped the A's beat the Royals Monday. The A's scratched out a run off Angel Baez in the 1st but Victor Soto hit a sac fly in the 2nd to tie the game. The A's answered with 3 runs thanks in part to 2 errors and a passed ball in the 2nd. The Royals stranded 2 in the 3rd but got an Ysmelin Alcantara RBI triple and Soto RBI groundout in the 4th to cut it to 4-3. Alcantara nailed a runner at the plate to end the A's 7th but the A's scored 2 in the 8th off Jon Rodriguez. The Royals are 19-20. The Royals lost, 14-10, to the Giants Sunday.
