* Omaha held off the Beavers to take the series finale. Lucas May and Jai Miller went back-to-back in the 2nd for their 15th and 16th of the season, respectively, but Portland tied it on a 2-run homer in the 4th. Miller answered with a 2-run homer in the 4th for his 17th and 2nd of the game to make it 4-2. A solo homer off Luis Mendoza in the 6th cut the lead to 1 but Jarrod Dyson threw a runner out at the plate to end the inning. Josh Rupe put 2 on in the 9th but wiggled out of the jam to pick up his 7th save. Omaha is 61-54. A 4-game home set with the Tacoma Rainiers (61-53, AAA Mariners) starts Sunday. Blaine Hardy starts game 1.

* NWA put it on the Travs Saturday. Danny Duffy stumbled out of the gate to give up 2 runs in the 1st but righted the ship the rest of the way. The Naturals wasted no time getting ahead as Johnny Giavotella doubled in a run, Eric Hosmer singled in a run and Manny Pina hit a sac fly to make it 3-2 Naturals. Derrick Robinson hit an RBI double and Giavotella singled in a run to make it 5-2. Anthony Seratelli drove in a run in the 3rd and after a double play ball scored the first run in the 4th, Clint Robinson went solo for his 19th homer to make it 8-2. Duffy retired 10 in a row then stranded 2 in the 5th. Clint Robinson hit a sac fly in the 6th and the Naturals finished it off with 5 in the 8th on a Clint Robinson 2-run single, Tim Smith RBI double, a run scoring passed ball and Seratelli RBI single. Patrick Keating allowed 2 runs in the 9th before finishing it. The Naturals are 26-16. John Lamb starts Sunday's game 3.

* The Rocks put together a 4-run rally late to take out the Sox. Salem scored a run before leaving the bases full in the 4th and the Rocks were being shut out into the 7th. With 2 on and 1 out that inning, Salvador Perez tied it with an RBI single and Adam Frost took starter Caleb Clay deep for a 3-run shot for his 4th for the Rocks to make it 4-1. Manauris Baez pitched well and Kevin Chapman and Barry Bowden finished off the win as Bowden stranded the bases full in the 8th. The Rocks are 22-20. Aaron Crow starts Sunday's series finale.

* Two 5-run innings sealed the Bees' fate. Dusty Odenbach stranded 2 in the 2nd but got whipped for 5 runs in the 3rd on 4 hits, a walk and a Jake Kuebler error. Odenbach didn't survive the 4th as he and Starling De La Rosa gave up 5 more runs to make it 10-0. Jose Bonilla hit a sac fly in the 4th and Ben Theriot doubled in a run in the 6th before Tim Ferguson singled in a run to cut it to 10-3. The Bees left the bases full in the 7th and that was their last best chance. The Bees are 15-24. Game 2 is Sunday.

* Orem scored 7 early runs en route to the rout. The Owlz scored 2 in the 1st but Justin Trapp doubled in a run in the 2nd to get the Chukars on the board. The Owlz battered Brian Peacock for 5 in the 2nd to race to a 7-1 lead. The Owlz tacked on a run in the 4th and the Chukars offense sputtered the rest of the way. Orem scored 2 in the 8th off Edwin Carl and IF stranded 2 in the 9th. IF is 2-6. They won Friday's game with Kevin David providing a 2-run homer in the 12th to make the difference. They have Sunday off.

* Twice the teams matched runs in extras before the Mariners scored 4 in the 12th to put it away. Pulaski scored a run in the 1st off Jonathan Dooley and Adrian Martinez squeezed home the tying run in the 3rd. The M's seized the lead back with a solo homer in the 4th and got another run in the 6th to chase Dooley. Brian Fletcher ripped a 3-run homer for his 2nd as a pro to make it 4-3 Royals in the bottom of the 6th. Pulaski tied it off Mike Giovenco in the 7th and got 2 runs in the 8th to take a 6-4 lead. The Royals came back in the 8th as Geoff Baldwin and Alex Llanos singled in runs. The Royals left the bases full in the 9th and Pulaski scored a run off J.J. Leaper in the 11th. Luis Piterson tied it with a sac fly in the bottom of the 11th but Pulaski got a solo homer in the 13th to put the Royals on the ropes again. Martinez hit an RBI forceout to tie the game again but the Royals left 2 in scoring position. Claudio Bavera came on for the 14th and got rocked for 4 runs. The Royals stranded 1 in the 14th. Burlington is 21-24. The Royals play Danville Sunday. Crawford Simmons will make the start. IF Mike Liberto has been moved to the B-Royals.

* The Royals scored 5 early runs and held on to win. Two runs scored on a Henry Moreno double in the 2nd as the Indians made an error on the play. Parker Bangs and Jose Sanchez allowed 2 runs in the 2nd as Bangs didn't record an out in his pro debut. The Royals picked them up, tho, with 3 in the 3rd on a Daniel Mateo RBI single and 2 Tribe run-scoring errors. The Royals left the bases full in the 4th and the Tribe got an RBI double that saw Jin-Ho Shin leave the game with an injured neck. The Tribe stranded 2 in the 7th and CF Jorge Bonifacio threw out a runner at the plate to end the Indians 8th. Chase Boruff and Tyler Gatrell shut the door in the 9th. The Royals are 19-18.
