The news of the day? The Royals sign 2nd rounder OF Brett Eibner and get 5th round P Jason Adam signed at the deadline, as hometown product Adam was signed away from Mizzou. Eibner is headed to IF while Adam will hit the AZL.

* Omaha has a slim lead as the game enters the late innings. Jarrod Dyson hit an RBI groundout in the 3rd and Matt Herges had a solid start broken up only by a solo homer in the 4th. David Lough singled in a run in the 5th but Omaha stranded 2 in the 6th. Gaby Hernandez stranded 2 in the 6th as well.

* The last 2 innings became an official debacle for NW Arkansas as the Naturals blew a 6-1 lead. Clint Robinson singled in a run in the 1st. Midland tied it off Everett Teaford again in the 2nd but Teaford was (pretty much) lockdown otherwise. Chris McConnell singled home a run in 4th and a double-play ball scored another run to make it 3-1 NWA. Johnny Giavotella slammed a 3-run homer in the 6th for his 6th of the season to keep his hot bat going. Teaford handed it off to Barry Bowden in the 8th and things started going sour. Bowden was pulled after 2 doubles sandwiched around a groundout, and Henry Barrera allowed 4 more runs to score on 4 hits to tie the game. An Eric Hosmer leadoff triple was squandered in the 9th but Brandon Sisk gave up a leadoff triple in the bottom of the 9th and Midland cashed in with a walkoff single. NWA is 30-20. They have Tuesday off.

* Scoring bursts were a key factor in Monday's Rocks' win. Nick Francis hit a 2-run double in the 1st and Salvador Perez doubled in another run to make it 3-0 in the 1st. The shutout held for Bryan Paukovits until the 5th when Frederick scored 4 runs on 2 walks and 4 hits. Perez tied it with a sac fly in the 8th and the tie held into the 11th. Francis led off that inning with a single, stole 2 bases and scored on a Rey Navarro 3-run blast for his 5th of the season. Patrick Norris doubled and scored on a passed ball to make it 8-4 Rocks. Ryan Dennick followed Harold Mozingo's lead of 4 scoreless innings with a perfect 11th. The Rocks are 27-22. Buddy Baumann starts Tuesday.

* The Bandits ran rampant over Elisaul Pimentel and the Bees' offense was stagnant Monday. Pimentel walked 3 in the 1st as the Bandits scored 4 runs to take command. QC scored again in the 2nd and then 2 in the 3rd to make it 7-0. The Bees had 15 up, 15 down thru 5 but Fernando Cruz led off the 6th with a single and Whit Merrifield hit his 3rd pro homer for a 2-run shot to spoil the shutout. Ryan Wood made his Bees debut as a full-time pitcher and gave up 2 runs in the 9th. The Bees are 16-32 and are 7 games in last place. They have Tuesday off.

* The Osprey turned around a 6-3 Chukar lead in the 6th to win the opener over IF. The Osprey scored 2 in the 1st but the Chukars answered with 4 in the 2nd on RBI singles by Tom Zebroski and Juan Polonia and a 2-run Justin Trapp single. Polonia singled home another run in the 4th but Scott Alexander gave the run back in the bottom of the inning. Travis Jones went deep for his 3rd homer of the season to make it 6-3 in the 5th. Alexander gave up an RBI triple in the 6th before getting pulled for Allen Caldwell, who served up a 3-run homer to give Missoula a 7-6 lead. The last 6 Chukars went down in order. IF is 3-13. Game 2 is Tuesday.

* A 5-run 3rd gave Burlington all it needed for the win Monday. Mike Liberto broke it open with a 3-run triple in the 3rd with Ryan Stovall adding an RBI single and Gabe MacDougall singling in a run to make it 5-0. Anthony Howard led off the 4th with his 2nd homer of the season and it was a matter of hanging on from there. Danville scored a run in the 4th off Jonathon Keck and then scored 2 in the 6th before Mike Giovenco put out a fire. Giovenco had a great outing to get his 1st career save. The B-Royals are 25-29. They go for the sweep Tuesday. P Ryan Wood has been moved up to Burlington.
