Royals on the Farm 7/19 -- A no-hitter it was! And a no-hitter tonight for Smith/Herrera!!!

After a couple twists and flip-flops, Luis Mendoza does, in fact have his no-hitter from Monday. The David Lough late game fielding error was, in fact, changed to a hit, BUT, in a rare double dose of drama, it was later changed BACK to an error, keeping Mendoza's no-hitter intact. Good for Luis.

AAA - Omaha: the Chasers and Memphis are tied at 5 in the 11th

* What? Noooooooooooooo...another cliffhanger? I'll bring this Tuesday affair to the report on Wednesday.

Herrera 2 IP, 2 K -- SV, 7, 1.91 ERA

* The organization got its second no-hitter in 2 nights on Tuesday, PLUS the Naturals turned a triple play in the 1-0 win. Jamie Romak hit a 2-out RBI single in the 1st and it was up to Will Smith from there. Smith was perfect through 5 and, after 2 walks to start the 6th, a 5-4-3 triple play abruptly ended the would-be rally. Smith and Kelvin Herrera proceeded to retire the next 9 to nail down the first Naturals' no-hitter. NW Arkansas is 11-13. Game 3 is Wednesday. In a stellar promotion, Zach Miner and his 7-point AA ERA were promoted to Omaha as RP Jeremy Jeffress got moved down to AA. Miner was supposed to start Wednesday, but Jeffress is supposed to be getting another shot at starting so may take the mound.

The Rocks broke the ice in the 4th with 3 straight doubles, including RBI 2-baggers by Tim Ferguson and Jose Bonilla. Elisaul Pimentel allowed a run in the 4th but Nick Van Stratten doubled in a run in the 5th to make it 3-1. The Pelicans tied it with 2 in the 5th but Yem Prades tripled and scored on a Ferguson groundout in the 6th. The Rocks left the bases full in the 7th and Pimentel allowed the tying run before leaving the game to the pen. Tim Melville stranded the bases loaded in the 8th and the teams bogged down. * The Chukars had 3 comebacks in them Monday but not a fourth as the Osprey got the win. Aaron Brooks served up a leadoff homer in the 1st but the Chukars answered with 2 in their half on a Daniel Mateo RBI triple and Richard Espy RBI single. Missoula tied it in the 2nd and then racked up 4 runs in the 3rd off Brooks. Edul Escobar hit an RBI double in the 4th and, after the Chukars squandered a bases-loaded situation in the 5th, they struck back in the 6th as Henry Moreno led off with a homer for his 4th of the season. Tyler Chism added an RBI single and Darian Sandford hit an RBI forceout to tie the game before IF stranded 2. The Osprey scored a run in the 7th and Edwin Carl gave up a run-scoring wild pitch in the 8th to make it 8-6. Chris Elder tripled home a run in the 8th and Chism singled home the tying run. A third-strike passed ball cost the Chukars dearly in the 9th as Carl actually struck out the side but had to get one more out, and another passed ball scored the go-ahead run. IF went down in order in the 9th. The Chukars are 11-17. The series ends tonight and the Chukars are up, 5-0, in the middle frames.

* Stephen Lumpkins got rocked by the Halos on Monday. Anthony Howard put the Royals at their Monday apex with a 2-run homer in the 1st for his 3rd of the season. Lumpkins worked around a single in the 1st and then got mangled in inning #2. Four straight singles and a Lumpkins error started the inning and, after the first out, 2 walks, a double and single chased Lumpkins with the Royals down, 6-2. Carlos Garcia hit an RBI double in the 2nd to cut into the lead. Max Morales escaped trouble in the 3rd but gave up 2 runs in the 4th and was pulled with the bases loaded and 1 out in the 5th.
