* Omaha blew three late leads as the Zephyrs took the series opener. Kila Ka'aihue doubled home a run with 2 out in the 4th but was thrown out at third on the play. Lorenzo Cain then led off the 5th with his 10th homer. Luis Mendoza cruised into the 7th but then hit the wall as New Orleans scored 3 runs on 3 hits, a wild pitch and error off Mendoza and a run-scoring wild pitch by Mario Santiago. David Lough hit a 2-run double in the 8th and scored on an error to make it 5-3 Omaha. Jesse Chavez came in and gave up a 2-out, 2-run single in the 8th to tie it, but Omaha scored on an error in the 9th to make it 6-5. Two Chaser errors allowed the tying run to score in the 9th and a walkoff double off Chavez ended it. Omaha is 46-39. Vin Mazzaro starts game 2 Tuesday.

* Manauris Baez made a nice spot start but came up empty in the W department as the Naturals needed a 7th inning rally to win. Baez gave up a solo homer in the 2nd and a single run in the 3rd as the Hooks took a 2-0 lead. Salvador Perez hit a sac fly and Rey Navarro hit an RBI groundout in the 4th to tie it. Derrick Robinson got thrown out at the plate to end the NWA 5th but Navarro hit an RBI single in the 6th to make it 3-2. Kevin Chapman gave up a run in the 7th to blow Baez's lead but Jeff Bianchi came through with a 2-run single in the bottom of the 7th to give the Naturals the lead. Chapman and Henry Barrera were able to bring it home from there. NWA is 3-8. The series ends Tuesday as Chris Dwyer starts. P Edgar Osuna has been put on the DL with a shoulder injury, and Blaine Hardy got demoted from Omaha to take his spot.

* A 5-run Potomac 8th turned the game around for a Nationals win. Nick Van Stratten hit an RBI single and John Whittleman hit a 2-run homer (his 9th) in the 1st to put the Rocks up, 3-0. Potomac scored a run in the 3rd off Tim Melville but the Rocks got a Kurt Mertins RBI groundout in the 4th to make it 4-1. Melville allowed a run on 2 hits in the bottom of the 4th and play was suspended Sunday in the 5th. It resumed with Dusty Odenbach taking the mound and he steered the 4-2 lead into the 8th. A 2-run homer tied the game that inning and Odenbach was pulled for Ryan Dennick with 1 on and 0 out. An RBI single and 2-run homer made it 7-4 P-Nats. The Rocks stranded 1 in the 9th.

* It was Wilmington's turn for a late comeback to split the twinbill Monday. Noel Arguelles stranded 2 in the 1st but allowed a run in the 2nd on 3 hits. Arguelles stranded 2 in the 4th and the offense picked him up in the 5th on a 2-run Gerard Hall double and Whit Merrifield RBI single. John Whittleman added his 10th homer to lead off the 6th. Arguelles and Bryan Paukovits retired the last 10 Nationals in order. Wilmington is 5-7. The series ends Tuesday with Tyler Sample and Justin Marks tagteaming it. RP Glenn Gibson has retired.

* Alex Llanos came up big for Kane County not once but twice on Monday. Quad Cities scored a run in the 3rd but Geulin Beltre scored on an error in the 4th to tie it at 1. The Bandits got a solo homer off Yordano Ventura in the 5th and the score stayed 2-1 into the 9th. The Cougars left the bases loaded in the 7th and, with Jake Kuebler at third and 2 out in the 9th, Llanos came through with an RBI double to tie it. The Cougars loaded the bases with 0 out in the 11th and Llanos hit a walkoff single. Kane County is 8-3. They go for the sweep Tuesday with Jason Adam pitching.

* The Chukars cranked up the offense and took out the Raptors on Monday. Kellen Moen gave up 2 runs in the 1st but IF tied it in the bottom of the inning on a Henry Moreno bases-loaded walk and Adrian Martinez RBI forceout. Darian Sandford put the Chukars up with an RBI single in the 2nd, Daniel Mateo hit a sac fly and Moreno hit an RBI single to make it 5-2. Moen gave up a run in the 3rd but Tyler Chism singled in a run in the bottom of the inning to make it 6-3. A 2-run error, Mateo RBI single and Moreno RBI forceout gave the Chukars a 10-3 lead in the 5th. Spencer Patton allowed a run in the 6th but Lance Harper doubled in a run to get it back. Patton gave up 3 runs in the 7th and Ogden got a run in the 8th to cut it to 11-8. A wild pitch and Sandford RBI single in the 8th finished it off. IF is 7-8. A 3-game home set with the Casper Ghosts (5-9, Rookie Rockies) starts Tuesday.

Rookie - Burlington: The Royals are down, 25-6, as the game has been delayed but is now back in progress. I'll recap it tomorrow

* Six scoreless innings of play ended with a wild 15th inning as the Royals held off the Dodgers Sunday. A Nick Cuckovich sac fly gave the Royals a 1-0 lead in the 1st and an error and Gabe Gray RBI single made it 3-0 Royals in the 4th. Cesar Ogando hit big trouble in the 4th as he had 2 runs in and the bases loaded when he was pulled for Andrew Durden, who gave up a grand slam to make it 6-3 Dodgers. The Royals answered with a Jerico Blanco sac fly, Nick DelGuidice RBI single, a run-scoring error and a run-scoring wild pitch to take a 7-6 lead. Rainier Bello and DelGuidice hit RBI singles in the 6th to make it 9-6. Ezequiel Amador gave up 3 runs in the 6th to tie it, but the Royals got a sac fly from Kevin David to regain the lead in the 7th. It was Brian Edelen's turn to give up the lead with a 2-run homer flipping it to 11-10 Dodgers. DelGuidice went solo for his 2nd homer of the season in the 8th to retie it and, all of a sudden, the offensive spigot turned off for both teams. A 2-run error broke it open for the Royals in the 15th and another run-scoring error made it 14-11 Royals. Nathan Johnson had a run in and 2 in scoring position with 2 out in the 9th when LF Gabe Gray came up throwing on a single and gunned down the would-be tying run at the plate to end the game.

* The Royals used up most of their fireworks on Sunday as they fizzled for the most part in a 6-3 loss to the A's today. The A's scored a run in the 2nd and the Royals got it back in the 3rd on a D'Andre Toney RBI single. Parker Bangs gave up a run in the 4th and 2 in the 5th, then a solo homer in the 6th to make it 5-1. Christian Witt allowed an inherited runner to score in the 7th. The Royals answered with 2 in the 7th on a run-scoring error and a run scored while Carlos Garcia was being picked off. The Royals stranded 2 in the 9th. The Royals are 4-8. They play the Reds Tuesday.
