* Eight unanswered runs late totally turned the game around Iowa's way. Johnny Giavotella was thrown out at the plate in the 1st but both teams scored a run in the 2nd, as Omaha scored on a solo homer by Lorenzo Cain for his 6th of the season. Iowa struck back with a run in the 3rd off Mike Montgomery but Omaha scored 3 in the 4th on a Lance Zawadzki RBI single, Manny Pina RBI double and Paulo Orlando RBI single. Robinson Tejeda allowed a run in the 6th to cut it to 4-3, but Omaha got the run back in the bottom of the inning on a Pina solo shot for his 2nd of the season. Things headed south in the 7th as 3 hits and 2 errors scored 3 Iowa runs. Blake Johnson and Blaine Hardy gave up 5 runs in the 8th as Iowa left Omaha in the dust. Seven Cubs had multiple hits led by 3 hits from DH Ty Wright. Omaha is 36-29. Game 3 is Wednesday as Mario Santiago starts.

* The Naturals churned out 16 runs on 13 hits to blow out the Drillers. The rout started quickly with 4 runs in the 1st on an Anthony Seratelli RBI groundout, run-scoring passed ball, and 2-run Ben Theriot single. Seratelli ripped a 2-run triple in the 2nd and Tim Smith hit a sac fly to make it 7-0 NWA. Tulsa scored 2 in the 4th but Edgar Osuna would hold the line from there. Kurt Mertins kept it going with a 2-run single in the 4th and Smith followed with an RBI single to make it 10-2. Mario Lisson went deep in the 7th for a 2-run homer for his 10th of the season. Mertins hit an RBI double in the 8th, Smith hit another sac fly and Jamie Romak hit a 2-run homer for his 7th of the season to finish the scoring. C Wilin Rosario had 2 hits and his 21st RBI for Tulsa. NWA is 30-30. The series ends Wednesday as Chris Dwyer starts.

* Elisaul Pimentel had a good start as the Rocks took the first of two with Lynchburg. Nick Francis led off the 2nd with a double and scored on an error, and Alex McClure hit a 2-out RBI single to make it 2-0 Rocks. Francis came back up in the 3rd and hit an RBI single to make it 3-0 for Pimentel. Pimentel was an out away from a shutout when an RBI double spoiled it, but he finished it for his 4th win. DH Joe Leonard hit 2 doubles (13) and drove in his 21st run for Lynchburg.

* A 5-run Lynchburg 5th and an offensive effort that came up with only 1 hit spelled doom for the Rocks in the nightcap. The Rocks loaded the bases with 1 out in the 2nd and Deivy Batista drew a walk to make it 1-0 Wilmington. Mike Mariot responded by giving up a 2-run homer in the bottom of the inning to make it 2-1 Hillcats. The game stayed there until the 5th, when Mariot ran into trouble after getting 2 outs. A double, walk and single loaded the bases and brought in Bryan Paukovits, who allowed 5 runs on 2 hits, a walk and wild pitch before the dust settled. Wilmington loaded the bases with 0 out in the 7th and a wild pitch scored a run before a sac fly by Yem Prades cut it to 7-3. Carlo Testa drew a walk to reload the bases but the rally sputtered there. 2B Barrett Kleinknecht had 2 hits and his 11th RBI for the Hillcats. Two other 'Cats had 2 RBI. Wilmington is 33-31 and out of the first-half divisional race. The series ends Wednesday night as Tim Melville starts. IF John Whittleman was added to the Carolina League all-star team thanks to an injury to another all-star. That makes 5 Rocks set to play in the game with the California League all-stars.

* Jason Adam gave up 2 homers to take his 2nd pro loss in Tuesday's game with the former Royals Midwest League affiliate. Brian Fletcher made a nice return to the lineup with an RBI double in the 1st and Brett Eibner singled in a run in the 3rd to make it 2-0 KC. Adam was working on 9 straight outs when a single and 2-run homer in the 4th tied the game. Cheslor Cuthbert put the Cougars back up with an RBI single in the 5th, but Adam gave up a leadoff single in the 7th and another 2-run homer gave the lead to the Bees. The last 10 Cougars after Cuthbert's go-ahead single went down to end the game. 3B Tony Thompson had 2 hits for Burlington, including his 6th homer, and 2 RBI (31). SS Yordy Cabrera hit his 4th homer. Kane County is 27-37. Game 2 is Wednesday as Sugar Ray Marimon starts.
