Royals on the Farm 6/8 -- Eibner to return

The Royals wrapped up their draft today with a couple more SS and a couple more catchers in the mix. Now it comes down to how many they get signed.

AAA - Omaha: off day

* A 4-game home set with the Oklahoma City RedHawks (24-35, AAA Astros) starts Thursday.
Mike Montgomery starts the opener with OKC. RP Jesse Chavez got sent back to Omaha with Vin Mazzaro getting the call up. LH Brandon Sisk also got promoted from NW Arkansas with Heath Rollins returning to NWA.

AA - NW Arkansas: Arkansas 4, Naturals 1 (7/G1)

2B Bianchi 1-2, 2B (12), RBI (22), K -- .256
CF D. Robinson 1-3 -- .269
SS Colon 0-3, K -- .243
RF Myers 0-3, 2 K -- .291
C S. Perez 0-2, BB, RS -- .247

Chen 2 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 2 K, 2 E -- L, 0-1, 18.00 ERA
Lebron 4 IP, H, BB, 3 K -- 2.30 ERA

* Bruce Chen's first rehab outing didn't go smoothly, but that's why they have 'em, to work the kinks out. Chen gave up 4 hits and 2 runs before recording an out in the 1st and the Travelers scored all 4 of their runs in the inning. Jeff Bianchi hit an RBI double in the 2nd but the Naturals wouldn't have another hit until the 7th. The Naturals got a 1-out single that inning but made nothing of it in the twinbill-shortened game. Travs CF and Angels top prospect CF Mike Trout had 2 hits and 2 SB (18) to improve to .309.

Arkansas 7, Naturals 1 (7/G2)

2B Seratelli 2-3, K, RS, SB (13) -- .311
SS Colon 1-4 -- .243
CF D. Robinson 0-4, 3 K, E (4) -- .260
RF Myers 0-3, K -- .281

Davies 2 IP, 4 R (2 ER), 5 H, 3 K -- L, 0-1, 9.00 ERA
Chapman 2 IP, H, 4 K -- 0.00 ERA, AA debut
Paulino 2 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, BB, K, 2 WP -- 5.71 ERA

* It wasn't a banner day for rehabbing KC starters as Kyle Davies, like Bruce Chen before him, took the loss in game 2 of the doubleheader. Arkansas jumped on Davies for 3 runs in the 1st on 2 hits, 2 errors and a catcher interference call on C Ben Theriot, who had 3 passed balls in the game as well. Kevin Chapman allowed an inherited runner to score in the 3rd and an error scored the Nats' only run in the 4th. Eduardo Paulino gave up 3 runs in the 5th as the Travelers pulled away. Three Travelers had 2 hits, including Trout, who hit his 6th triple to improve to .313. Two others had 2 RBI. NWA is 26-27. The teams lock horns for 1 game on Thursday. Zach Miner will start. RH Harold Mozingo has pitched his last game in the organization as he was released.

Marks 5 IP, 4 ER, 8 H, 7 K, HRA -- L, 2-4, 4.87 ERA
Lafferty 2 1/3 IP, 5 ER, 7 H, 2 K, WP -- 4.44 ERA
Paukovits 1 2/3 IP, H, 3 K, WP -- 2.57 ERA

* The Rocks got ripped as they mustered only 2 hits in the loss. Kinston stranded 2 in the 3rd but got a 2-run homer off Justin Marks in the 4th to take the lead. Nick Francis hit an RBI groundout in the 4th as the Rocks got both of their hits in the inning. The Tribe got 2 more runs on 4 hits in the 5th and then put it away in the 8th with 5 runs on 5 hits off Brendan Lafferty. The only Rock to reach after the 4th came on a 7th inning walk. DH Jeremie Tice had 3 hits with his 3rd homer and 2 RBI (11) and five others had as many hits as the entire Rocks team - 2. Wilmington is 30-28. The series ends Thursday with Elisaul Pimentel starting. C Ryan Eigsti was activated from the NWA DL and optioned down to Wilmington.

A - Kane County: Bowling Green 13, Cougars 7

C Jones 2-4, GS (3), 4 RBI (13), 2 K, RS -- .202
LF Aparicio 2-4, 2B (7), K, 2 RS -- .178
2B Espinal 2-4, HR (2), RBI (13), RS -- .181

3B Cuthbert 1-5, 2B, RBI (12), K -- .317
SS Hall 0-3, SF, RBI (16), K -- .268

Adam 2 1/3 IP, 8 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 3 K, 2 HRA -- L, 2-1, 4.39 ERA, first rough start

Keck 2 IP, ER, 2 H, 2 K, WP -- 3.76 ERA
Byrne IP, 2 ER, 2 H, BB, K -- 4.50 ERA

* After a 6-run 2nd the Cougars looked possibly on their way to another win over Bowling Green, but the Hot Rods put together a big 3rd inning rally and didn't look back. The Rods scored 3 runs on 3 hits off Jason Adam in the 2nd, but the Cougars had the answer. Three singles loaded the bases and Travis Jones cranked his 3rd homer of the season for a grand slam. Yowill Espinal went solo for his 2nd homer of the season two batters later, and Cheslor Cuthbert hit an RBI double but was thrown out at third on the play to pull a Berroa. Adam didn't survive the 3rd as he served up a grand slam to 1B Philip Wunderlich, and Mitch Hodge came in to give up 3 more runs in the inning to make it 10-6 Hot Rods. KC stranded 2 in the 3rd and Espinal was thrown out at the plate in the 4th. Gerard Hall hit a sac fly in the 5th but Bowling Green added 3 late runs to ice it. Wunderlich and 2B Hector Guevara had 3 hits for the Hot Rods. Wunderlich's slam was his 8th and his 4 RBI gave him 41 on the season. Two other Hot Rods had 2 hits and 3 RBI. The Cougars are 26-33. The series wraps Thursday with Sugar Ray Marimon taking the mound. OF Brett Eibner has been activated from the DL and should be working his way back into the KC lineup. He put in a whopping 2 games before going down with a thumb injury this season.
