* Omaha made an 8th inning comeback but lost it in the 10th. Vin Mazzaro worked out of jams in the 1st and 2nd. Fresno got to him for 3 runs in the 4th and the Royals couldn't buy a run. Jarrod Dyson led off the 8th with a triple and David Lough finally broke the ice with an RBI single. Clint Robinson stepped up with a 2-run double to tie the game, but the Chasers would strand 2. They then left the bases loaded in the 9th. Brandon Sisk allowed a run in the 10th and Omaha went down in order in the bottom of the inning. Omaha is 64-53. The series ends with a Wednesday matinee.

AA - NW Arkansas: off day

* A 3-game set at the Frisco RoughRiders (22-22, AA Rangers) starts Wednesday. Jeremy Jeffress will start.

A-Adv. - Wilmington: rainout

* The Rocks and Dash will play a doubleheader Wednesday.

* Leondy Perez pitched the Cougars to a shutout win in the opener of a twinbill. Brett Eibner hit an RBI double in the 1st. The Rattlers stranded 2 in the 2nd and Perez left 'em loaded in the 4th. Nick Rogers had runners at the corners with 1 out in the 9th when C Kevin David came up with a big pickoff at third to help thwart the threat.

* The tables were turned in the nightcap as two Rattler pitchers 1-hit the Cougars. Wisconsin manufactured 2 runs in the 1st off Santiago Garrido and KC's best chance came when they stranded 2 in the 2nd. The last 16 Cougars went down in order as they didn't have a baserunner after the 2nd. KC is 26-18. A 3-game home set with the Peoria Chiefs (18-25, A Cubs) starts Wednesday. Greg Billo will start.

* Casper put up 11 runs on only 8 hits to steam past the Chukars. Richard Espy hit an RBI single in the 1st and the Ghosts answered with 4 runs off Willian Avinazar. Casper added 1 in the 3rd and 2 in the 4th to stretch it to 7-1. Mark Threlkeld hit a 2-run single in the 6th but Casper scored 4 again in the 7th off Jonathan Dooley and Cody Fassold. Threlkeld hit a sac fly in the 8th and IF added 2 meaningless runs in the 9th on a Tyler Chism RBI triple and Luis Piterson sac fly. IF is 2-7. A 3-game home set with Casper (8-1) starts tonight.

* The Royals went to work from the 2nd through the 6th. Kenny Swab singled in a run in the 2nd and the 'Stros tied it off Matt Ridings in the 2nd. Murray Watts singled in a run in the 3rd and Swab hit an RBI double before Justin Trapp hit an RBI single to make it 4-1 in the 4th. Jorge Bonifacio went deep for his 5th homer in the 5th and Swab hit another RBI single to make it 6-1. Ridings allowed 3 runs in the 5th before getting pulled. Bonifacio hit a 2-run double in the 6th and Malcom Culver allowed a run in the 7th but combined with Rudy Brown to shut the door. Brown struck out the side in the 9th. Burlington is 18-30. Game 2 is Wednesday.

* Three rallies of 4 or more runs weren't enough for the Royals Tuesday as the Giants salvaged a win in the 10th. The Royals made nothing of a bases-loaded, 0-out situation in the 1st and the Giants scored single runs in the 2nd and 4th off Eric Diaz to take a 2-0 lead. The Royals put together the first big rally of the game in the 4th as an error scored a run on a Travis Lane single, Jerrell Allen hit a 2-run triple, Brian Gaylord hit an RBI fielder's choice, Carlos Garcia hit an RBI single and Humberto Arteaga singled in a run to make it 6-2 Royals. Diaz served up a solo homer in the 5th and had 2 on with 1 out when Christian Witt came in and gave up 4 runs on a sac fly and 2 doubles to make it 7-6 Giants. More dark clouds appeared in the 6th as 2 2-run homers were part of a 6-run rally off Witt that made it 13-6 Gigantes. The Royals loaded the bases with 0 out again in the 6th and Adrian Morales cleared the bases with a double and Rainier Bello added an RBI double to cut it to 13-10. Brian Edelen gave up a run in the 7th and the Giants took a 14-10 lead into the 9th. This time the Royals loaded the bases with 1 out and Garcia singled in 2 runs before Morales did the same to tie the game. With the bases loaded and 1 out, the Royals were poised to get a walkoff win, but Nick Cuckovich hit into an inning-ending double play. Andrew Stueve loaded the bases with 1 out in the 10th and a sac fly ended up scoring 2 runs before the Royals got the final out on the play. The Royals stranded 1 in the 10th. The Royals are 16-24.
